Upgrading Software Packages

Currently, ascend-deployer can only upgrade the driver, firmware, CANN, Toolbox, and MindX DL components. For details about the upgrade operations, see Installation Process. Specifically, you only need to obtain the software packages of required versions and install them.

The upgrade has the following restrictions:

  • Before the upgrade, ensure that only software packages of required versions exist in the ascend-deployer/ascend_deployer/resources/ directory. Otherwise, there may be a mismatch of versions.
  • Before upgrading the Toolbox as the root user, ensure that the owners and owner groups of the ascend_toolbox_install.log and ascend_toolbox.log files in the /var/ascend_seclog/ directory are root, and the file permissions are 600.
  • To upgrade the MindX DL components, obtain the software packages and use the software-specific installation method.
  • To upgrade MindX DL 5.0.RC1 to 5.0.RC2 or later, refer to Performing Online Download to obtain the component package and manually change the value of version in the resources/k8s/version.json file in the path where ascend-deployer is located to 1.19.16.
