Function

  • Description: Sorts the elements in the input tensor along a specified dimension in ascending or descending order, and returns the corresponding index values. The input tensor self has N dimensions [0, N-1], and sorting is performed along the dimension specified by dim.

  • Formula:

out[i¬dim,j]=arg_sortdim[self[i¬dim,:]](j)out[\mathbf{i}_{\neg dim}, j] = \text{arg\_sort}_{dim}[self[\mathbf{i}_{\neg dim}, :]](j)

Function Prototype

Each operator is divided into a two-phase API. The "aclnnSortGetWorkspaceSize" API must be called first to obtain the workspace size required for computation and the executor that encapsulates the operator computation flow. Then, the "aclnnSort" API is called to perform the computation.

    • Atlas A2 training products/Atlas A2 inference products, Atlas A3 training products/Atlas A3 inference products:

      • The data types UINT16, UINT32, and UINT64 are not supported for self.

      • When the data type of self is BFLOAT16, the axis specified by the dim parameter cannot be 1.

      • The data type of valuesOut does not support UINT16, UINT32, or UINT64.

    • Ascend 950PR/Ascend 950DT: The data type of valuesOut does not support DOUBLE or BOOL.

  • Return value:

aclnnStatus: return code. For details, see aclnn Return Codes.

The first-phase API performs input parameter validation and returns an error in the following scenarios:

    Return Code Error Code Description
ACLNN_ERR_PARAM_NULLPTR 161001 Indicates that self, valuesOut, or indicesOut is a null pointer.
ACLNN_ERR_PARAM_INVALID 161002 The data type of self, valuesOut, or indicesOut is not within the supported range, or their shapes do not match each other.
The value of dim is outside the dimension range of the input tensor self.

aclnnSort

  • Parameters:

    Parameter Input/Output Description
workspace Input Address of the workspace memory applied for on the Device side.
workspaceSize Input Size of the workspace applied for on the Device side, obtained through the first-phase API aclnnSortGetWorkspaceSize.
executor Input Operator executor, which contains the operator computation flow.
stream Input Specifies the stream on which the task is executed.
  • Return value:

aclnnStatus: return code. For details, see aclnn Return Codes.

Constraints

  • Deterministic computation:

    • aclnnSort defaults to a deterministic implementation.
  • When the data type of self is not FLOAT, FLOAT16, or BFLOAT16, an excessively large tensor size may cause the operator execution to time out (aicpu error, with the error reason being [aicpu timeout]). The maximum size limits for specific types (strongly dependent on the actual remaining memory of the machine) are as follows:

    • INT64: 150000000

    • UINT8, INT8, INT16, INT32: 725000000
