Installation Precautions
If you use the Atlas 500 AI edge station (model 3000) to deploy containers, skip this section because the AtlasEdge is pre-built in the Atlas 500 AI edge station (model 3000) firmware. For other products (such as the Atlas 200 AI accelerator module (RC) and Atlas 500 Pro AI edge server (model 3000)), install the AtlasEdge by referring to this section.
- The running of some AtlasEdge components involves the root permission, requiring high system permission. You are advised to isolate the management plane from the service plane by allocating different network ports and network segments for these two planes to ensure that the management plane cannot be accessed through the service plane. Install the AtlasEdge on the management plane to prevent applications on the service plane from obtaining the root permission through the AtlasEdge after being attacked.
- Before installing the AtlasEdge, ensure that the AtlasEdge of another version or the same version is not installed in the current environment. For details about how to upgrade the AtlasEdge, see Upgrading the AtlasEdge Software.
- Before installing the AtlasEdge, ensure that the available drive space is greater than 300 MB. For the first upgrade of the AtlasEdge, ensure that the available drive space is greater than 300 MB. For the second upgrade, ensure that the available drive space is greater than 100 MB.
- When the AtlasEdge software is installed or upgraded, the software checks whether the MindXEdge user can log in. If the login is successful, the installation or upgrade will be prohibited (to reduce security risks). In this case, you need to disable the login and then reinstall or upgrade the AtlasEdge software.
- During the AtlasEdge software installation, running containers and model files may exist. If you do not need these containers and model files, manually delete them.
- To run the AtlasEdge software, you need to configure the system to allow the root user to switch to the MindXEdge user without a password.
Compatibility description: AtlasEdge is incompatible with the kubelet and kube-proxy processes. If the kubelet or kube-proxy software exists in the environment and is running, AtlasEdge components fail to be started. Therefore, check whether the kubelet and kube-proxy processes are installed in the environment. If they are installed, stop or uninstall them in advance. You can also install the AtlasEdge software on other devices without the kubelet and kube-proxy processes.
