Installing MindX SDK Software Packages Using MindStudio (Offline)

  1. Obtain the mxManufacture 3.0.0 or mxVision 3.0.0 software package from MindX SDK in the Ascend Community and upload it to the server.
  2. After a project is created or an existing project is opened, choose File > Settings from the top menu bar and find Appearance & Behavior > System Settings > MindX SDK in the navigation tree on the left of the displayed page to access the MindX SDK Manager page.

    MindX SDK Location on the page specifies the default installation path of the software package.

    • For a non-root user, the path is $HOME/Ascend/mindx_sdk.
    • For the root user, the path is /usr/local/Ascend/mindx_sdk.
  3. Click Install SDK. The MindX SDK Settings page is displayed, as shown in Figure 1.
    • Install Source: installation source. Online indicates online installation, and Disk indicates local offline installation.
    • SDK Location: upload path of the software package obtained in 1. Select the path to the last level.
      • The owner of the SDK installation package must be the same as the actual user.
      • If the group to which the current user belongs or other users have the write permission, the tool displays the The MindxSDK package is insecure because it does not belong to you. Do you want to continue? warning.
    • Install Location: default installation path. The path is $HOME/Ascend/mindx_sdk for a non-root user or /usr/local/Ascend/mindx_sdk for the root user.

  4. Click Next. Confirm the current installation settings of the selected SDK. Then, click Next to start installation. After the installation is complete, click Finish to return to the SDK manager page.
  5. On the MindX SDK Manager page, view the information about the installed SDK, as shown in Figure 2. Click OK to complete the installation.
    The two icons in the window are described as follows:
    • : uninstalls an SDK.
    • : activates an SDK.

    Note the following SDK activation restrictions:

    • Only one SDK can be activated at a time.
    • If a new SDK is installed while an activated SDK is in use, the one in use is deactivated and the newly installed one is automatically activated. If you want to use the original one, manually switch and activate it.

Installing MindX SDK Software Packages Using MindStudio (Online)

  1. After a project is created or an existing project is opened, choose File > Settings from the top menu bar and find Appearance & Behavior > System Settings > MindX SDK in the navigation tree on the left of the displayed page to access the MindX SDK Manager page.

    MindX SDK Location on the page specifies the default installation path of the software package.

    • For a non-root user, the path is $HOME/Ascend/mindx_sdk.
    • For the root user, the path is /usr/local/Ascend/mindx_sdk.

    Click Install SDK. The MindX SDK Settings window is displayed.

  2. On the MindX SDK Settings page shown in Figure 3:
    • Install Source: installation source. Online indicates online installation, and Disk indicates local installation. Select Online.
    • SDK Version: version of the software package that can be selected. (MindStudio 5.0.0 matches the MindX SDK 3.0.0.)
    • Install Location: default installation path of the software package.

      For a non-root user, the default installation path is $HOME/Ascend/mindx_sdk. For the root user, the default installation path is /usr/local/Ascend/mindx_sdk.

    Click Next. Confirm the current installation settings of the selected SDK. Then, click Next to start installation. After the installation is complete, click Finish to return to the SDK manager page.

  3. View the information about the installed SDK, as shown in Figure 4. Click OK to complete the installation.
