Function

  • Description: Calculates the power of the natural constant e using the input self as the exponent, and subtracts 1 from the exponentiation result. In scenarios where the value of self is small, this function provides higher precision than directly using the formula.
  • Formula:outi=eselfi−1out_i = {e}^{self_i} - 1

Prototype

  • aclnnExpm1 and aclnnInplaceExpm1 implement the same function in different ways. Select a proper operator based on your requirements.

    • aclnnExpm1: An output tensor object needs to be created to store the computation result.
    • aclnnInplaceExpm1: No output tensor object needs to be created, and the computation result is stored in the memory of the input tensor.
  • Each operator has two-phase API calls. First, aclnnExpm1GetWorkspaceSize or aclnnInplaceExpm1GetWorkspaceSize is called to obtain the workspace size required for computation and the executor that contains the operator computation process. Then, aclnnExpm1 or aclnnInplaceExpm1 is called to perform computation.

    • aclnnStatus aclnnExpm1GetWorkspaceSize(const aclTensor *self, aclTensor *out, uint64_t *workspaceSize, aclOpExecutor **executor)
    • aclnnStatus aclnnExpm1(void* workspace, uint64_t workspace_size, aclOpExecutor* executor, const aclrtStream stream)
    • aclnnStatus aclnnInplaceExpm1GetWorkspaceSize(aclTensor *selfRef, uint64_t *workspaceSize, aclOpExecutor **executor)
    • aclnnStatus aclnnInplaceExpm1(void* workspace, uint64_t workspace_size, aclOpExecutor* executor, const aclrtStream stream)

aclnnExpm1GetWorkspaceSize

  • Parameters:

    • self (aclTensor*, compute input): input self in the formula. The shape must be the same as that of out. Non-contiguous tensors are supported. The data format can be ND.
      • Atlas inference products and Atlas training products: The data type can be INT64, BOOL, FLOAT, or FLOAT16.
      • Atlas A2 training products/Atlas A2 inference products and Atlas A3 training products/Atlas A3 inference products: The data type can be INT64, BOOL, FLOAT, FLOAT16, or BFLOAT16.
    • out (aclTensor*, compute output): out in the formula. The shape must be the same as that of self. Non-contiguous tensors are supported. The data format can be ND.
      • Atlas inference products and Atlas training products: The data type can be FLOAT, FLOAT16, or FLOAT64.
      • Atlas A2 training products/Atlas A2 inference products and Atlas A3 training products/Atlas A3 inference products: The data type can be FLOAT, FLOAT16, FLOAT64, or BFLOAT16.
    • workspaceSize (uint64_t*, output): size of the workspace to be allocated on the device.
    • executor (aclOpExecutor**, output): operator executor, containing the operator computation process.
  • Returns:

aclnnStatus: status code. For details, see aclnn Return Codes.

The first-phase API performs input parameter validation. The following errors may be returned:
161001 (ACLNN_ERR_PARAM_NULLPTR): 1. The passed self or out is a null pointer.
161002 (ACLNN_ERR_PARAM_INVALID): 1. The data type of self or out is not supported.
                                  2. The data type of self cannot be converted to the type of out.
                                  3. The shapes of self and out are inconsistent.

aclnnExpm1

  • Parameters:

    • workspace (void*, input): memory address of the workspace to be allocated on the device.
    • workspace_size (uint64_t, input): size of the workspace to be allocated on the device, which is obtained by calling the first-phase API aclnnExpm1GetWorkspaceSize.
    • executor (aclOpExecutor*, input): operator executor, containing the operator computation process.
    • stream (aclrtStream, input): stream for executing the task.
  • Returns:

aclnnStatus: status code. For details, see aclnn Return Codes.

aclnnInplaceExpm1GetWorkspaceSize

  • Parameters:

    • selfRef (aclTensor*, compute input | compute output): input and output tensor, that is, self and out in the formula. Non-contiguous tensors are supported. The data format can be ND.
      • Atlas inference products and Atlas training products: The data type can be FLOAT or FLOAT16.
      • Atlas A2 training products/Atlas A2 inference products and Atlas A3 training products/Atlas A3 inference products: The data type can be FLOAT, FLOAT16, or BFLOAT16.

The passed selfRef is a null pointer.
161002 (ACLNN_ERR_PARAM_INVALID): 1. The data type of selfRef is not supported.

aclnnInplaceExpm1

  • Parameters:

    • workspace (void*, input): memory address of the workspace to be allocated on the device.
    • workspace_size (uint64_t, input): size of the workspace to be allocated on the device, which is obtained by calling the first-phase API aclnnInplaceExpm1GetWorkspaceSize.
    • executor (aclOpExecutor*, input): operator executor, containing the operator computation process.
    • stream (aclrtStream, input): stream for executing the task.
  • Returns:

aclnnStatus: status code. For details, see aclnn Return Codes.

Constraints

  • Deterministic computation:
    • aclnnExpm1 and aclnnInplaceExpm1 default to a deterministic implementation.
