Function Usage

Obtains the minimum value between two inputs.

Prototype

1
inline half __hmin(half x, half y)
1
inline bfloat16_t __hmin(bfloat16_t x, bfloat16_t y)

Parameters

Parameter

Input/Output

Description

x

Input

Source operand.

y

Input

Source operand.

Returns

Minimum value of the two input data elements.

  • If x is -0 and y is +0, the return value is x.
  • If x is +0 and y is -0, the return value is y.
  • If x is nan, the return value is y.
  • If y is nan, the return value is x.
  • If both x and y are nan, the return value is nan.
  • If either x or y is -inf, the return value is -inf.
  • If x is inf, the return value is y.
  • If y is inf, the return value is x.

Restrictions

For SIMT programming, this API is not supported.

Header File to Be Included

To use the half API, the simt_api/asc_fp16.h header file must be included. To use the bfloat16_t API, the simt_api/asc_bf16.h header file must be included.

1
#include "simt_api/asc_fp16.h"
1
#include "simt_api/asc_bf16.h"

Examples

For SIMD and SIMT programming:
1
2
3
4
5
__simt_vf__ __launch_bounds__(1024) inline void KernelMin(__gm__ half* dst, __gm__ half* x, __gm__ half* y)
{
    int idx = threadIdx.x + blockIdx.x * blockDim.x;
    dst[idx] = __hmin(x[idx], y[idx]);
}
