Function

  • Description: Computes the Softmax value of the input tensor.

  • Formula:

    Softmax(xi)=exi∑j=0n−1exjSoftmax\left ( {{x}_{i}} \right )= {\frac {{e}^{{x}_{i}}} {\sum ^{n-1}_{j=0} {{e}^{{x}_{j}}}}}

During actual computation, the method of subtracting the maximum input value is used to prevent floating-point overflow and ensure numerical stability.

Function Prototype

Each operator is divided into a two-phase API. The "aclnnSoftmaxGetWorkspaceSize" API must be called first to obtain the workspace size required for computation and the executor that encapsulates the operator computation flow. Then, the "aclnnSoftmax" API is called to perform the computation.

aclnnStatus aclnnSoftmaxGetWorkspaceSize(
  const aclTensor* self,
  int64_t dim,
  aclTensor* out,
  uint64_t* workspaceSize,
  aclOpExecutor** executor)
aclnnStatus aclnnSoftmax(
  void* workspace,
  uint64_t workspaceSize,
  aclOpExecutor* executor,
  aclrtStream stream)

aclnnSoftmaxGetWorkspaceSize

  • Parameters:

Parameter Input/Output Description Instruction Data Type Data Format Dimension (shape) Non-contiguous Tensor
self (aclTensor*) Input Input parameter for the Softmax computation, corresponding to x in the formula. Supports empty tensors. FLOAT16, FLOAT32, DOUBLE, BFLOAT16 ND 0-8 √
dim (int64_t) Input Axis along which Softmax is to be computed. - - - - -
out (aclTensor*) Output Output parameter of the computation. The shape must be consistent with self. FLOAT16, FLOAT32, DOUBLE, BFLOAT16 ND 0-8 √
workspaceSize (uint64_t*) Output Returns the workspace size to be applied for on the device side. - - - - -
executor (aclOpExecutor**) Output Returns the op executor, which contains the operator computation flow. - - - - -
    • Atlas inference products, Atlas training products, Atlas 200I/500 A2 inference products: support the FLOAT16, FLOAT32, and DOUBLE data types.
  • Return value

aclnnStatus: return code. For details, see aclnn Return Code.

The first-phase API performs input parameter validation and returns an error in the following scenarios:

    Return Code Error Code Description
ACLNN_ERR_PARAM_NULLPTR 161001 The passed self or out is a null pointer.
ACLNN_ERR_PARAM_INVALID 161002 The type of dim is not int.
The dim value is outside the dimension range of self.
The data type of self is not within the supported range.

aclnnSoftmax

  • Parameters:

    Parameter Input/Output Description
workspace Input Workspace memory address applied for on the Device side.
workspaceSize Input Workspace size applied for on the Device side, obtained through the first-phase API aclnnSoftmaxGetWorkspaceSize.
executor Input Operator executor, which contains the operator computation process.
stream Input Specifies the stream for task execution.
  • Return value

aclnnStatus: return code. For details, see aclnn Return Code.

Constraints

  • Deterministic computation:

    • aclnnSoftmax defaults to a deterministic implementation.
