Function
- Operator function:
Backward propagation of the forward Adaptive Max Pooling operation. It backfills the gradient to the coordinates of the maximum value within each adaptive window, accumulating at identical coordinates.
Forward formula:
N (Batch) represents the batch size, C (Channels) represents the feature map channels, D (Depth) represents the feature map depth, H (Height) represents the feature map height, and W (Width) represents the feature map width. For the scenario where the input self has dimensions and the outputSize value is , the output dimensions are , the indices dimensions are , and the calculation formula for each element in the corresponding tensor is as follows:
Function Prototype
Each operator is divided into a two-phase API. First call the "aclnnAdaptiveMaxPool3dBackwardGetWorkspaceSize" API to obtain the workspace size required for computation and the executor that contains the operator computation process, and then call the "aclnnAdaptiveMaxPool3dBackward" API to perform the computation.

Parameters:
Parameter Input/Output Description Instruction Data Type Data Format Dimension (Shape) Non-contiguous Tensor gradOutput Input Gradient of the current node. The shape is consistent with the forward output. FLOAT32, FLOAT16, BFLOAT16 ND 4-5 √ self Input The input tensor of the forward pass. The data type must be the same as gradOutput FLOAT32、FLOAT16、BFLOAT16 ND 4-5 √ indices Input Index positions of the maximum elements in the forward input. The shape is the same as gradOutput INT32 ND 4-5 √ gradInput Output Backward output tensor The shape is consistent with self. FLOAT32, FLOAT16, BFLOAT16 ND 4-5 √ workspaceSize Output Returns the workspace size to be allocated on the Device side. - - - - - executor Output Returns the op executor, which contains the operator computation process. - - - - - Return value
aclnnStatus: return code. For details, see aclnn Return Code.
The first-phase API performs input parameter validation and returns an error in the following scenarios:
Return Code Error Code Description ACLNN_ERR_PARAM_NULLPTR 161001 The passed gradOutput, self, or indices is a null pointer. ACLNN_ERR_PARAM_INVALID 161002 The data types of gradOutput, self, indices, and gradInput are not within the supported range. The data formats of gradOutput, self, indices, and gradInput are not within the supported range. The shape of the input or output is not 4-dimensional or 5-dimensional. The shapes of gradOutput and indices are inconsistent, or the shapes of self and gradInput are inconsistent. depth * height * width exceeds the maximum int32 value, which is beyond the representable range of indices.
aclnnAdaptiveMaxPool3dBackward
Parameters:
Parameter Input/Output Description workspace Input Specifies the workspace memory address applied on the Device side. workspaceSize Input Specifies the workspace size applied on the Device side, which is obtained through the first-phase API aclnnAdaptiveMaxPool3dBackwardGetWorkspaceSize. executor Input Operator executor, which contains the operator computation flow. stream Input Specifies the stream for task execution. Return value
aclnnStatus: return code. For details, see aclnn Return Code.
Constraints
Deterministic computation:
- aclnnAdaptiveMaxPool3dBackward defaults to a non-deterministic implementation. Deterministic computation can be enabled through aclrtCtxSetSysParamOpt.
In non-divisible scenarios, the shape does not exceed 2 to the power of 24. In divisible scenarios, this restriction does not apply.
